Freshwater tropical aquarium fishes have been captive bred in the ornamental fish aquaculture for decades, however marine fishes are now being captive bred and raised more and more as that segment of the aquarium hobby has been growing at a fast pace. Clownfishes are the leading species being produced successfully on a grand scale and very popular since the Disney cartoon movie nemo highlighted clownfish. Conservation and ecology and awareness of the need for the restoration and preservation of natural resources is heightened by particpation in the aquarium hobby by millions world wide.
